  1. Take You Down

From the recording Then Went the Demons

In cart Not available Out of stock

A song about temptation, in this case taking the form of a 'dangerous' woman/relationship, but really it's about temptation in general, disguising itself as something beautiful and alluring. We play with fire... cautiously, curiously at first, then become more comfortable with it, then actually embrace it, wondering why we resisted in the first place, seemingly oblivious to the fact that we've been ensnared. Yet all the while there is a small voice inside telling us that we are better... or have the potential to be better... than our behavior would indicate. Shades of REM, Matthew Sweet and John Mayer are woven throughout this singer-songwriter number.

Lyrics

She’s gonna take you down
She wants to make you her lover tonight
She’ll sing a blue-eyed song so softly
And you’re thinking everything is alright
Wondering why you put up a fight
But all she wants to do is

Take you down
Take you down
“It’s really hurting no one”

She knows her way around
Plant a thought push a button right here
And you become ready willing and able
And you’re thinking everything is alright Wondering why you put up a fight
But all she wants to do is

Take you down (I’m feeling older)
Take you down (but I’m getting better Take you down (at knowing who I am)

You’re living a life of no regret
Just doing the act without a net
Someday when the deal goes down
You’ll wish that you had seen

Just what was happening
While the wild ones were stealing your soul
And yet you still believed that you still had it under control
And everything’s not alright
Wondering how you got in this fight
When all she wants to do is

Take you down (I am forgiven)
Take you down (if I’m not mistaken)
Take you down (you will not let me go)
Take you down (I’m feeling older)
Take you down (but I’m getting better)
Take you down (you will not bury me)
