    LoveJoyPeace

Traffic jams and frauds and scams / People who don’t give a damn
Politics and selfie sticks / Crazies killing just for kicks
News that’s fake and bad remakes / Frogs with three legs in the lakes
Loss of jobs and banks that rob / “Meat” that’s just a greasy blob

Just ignore the closing stores / And shop online for more and more
Pile up debt with no regret / There’ll always be a safety net
Spying drones no chaperones / Folks enamored with their phones
Skin so tanned and sleight of hand/ Your profile says your life is grand

And if I said I’ve always given my best
    I would be lying
But still I know this life’s an ongoing test
And I’ll be trying hard to pass along some

Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness
    Gentleness, faithfulness and self control

Food enhancers causing cancers / Looking for the easy answers
He who tries still wins a prize / Cheap imported merchandise
Auto fumes and oil tycoons / We all can sing with auto-tune
It’s fine as long as I’ve got mine / Someone else will toe the line

And if I said I’ve never put myself first
    I would be lying
But still I know the world is dying of thirst
We should be trying to quench it, drench it with

Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness
    Gentleness, faithfulness and self control

I don’t believe what’s done is done / Let’s find a way back to square one
Let’s put the hate back on the shelves / And love our neighbors as ourselves
I don’t believe that it’s too late / To try and rehabilitate
A single act of kindness is the perfect place to start

    Have to Be So Hard

Why does it hurt so bad
Why do I feel so sad
I think that I'm a better man than I was yesterday, but
Why does life have to be so hard
Why does it have to be so hard

Fumblin' for the brakes I speed toward my judgment day
I'm wondering if it's not too late to try and change my ways
What happened to the many-colored coat I used to wear?
It's turned into a filthy rag and gotten me nowhere

Why does it hurt so bad
What do I feel so sad
I think that I'm a better man than I was yesterday, but
Why does life have to be so hard
Why does it have to be so hard

Lord I want to do it right and so I count the cost
Of laying down the easy life and picking up my cross
I know that heaven's patriarchs are waiting 'round the bend
And I'm daring to believe that I will see them in the end, but

Why does it take so long
    What am I doing wrong
I'm trying to be a better man than I was yesterday, but
Why does life have to be so hard
Why does it have to be so hard

    I don't understand and I don't think I will
I take it all in but I don't get my fill
I try to be grateful and not to complain
But a cloud can only hold so much until it has to rain

Why does it hurt so bad
What do I feel so sad
I think that I'm a better man than I was yesterday
Why do all the roads I choose come back the other way
The lessons we don't seem to learn until we're old and gray
Why does life have to be so hard
Why does it have to be so hard

    Fare Thee Well

Well we were looking for some good times
I think we had a few as far as I can tell
But if it’s time to say goodbye then fare thee well

It really doesn’t hurt my feelings
I kind of liked you but in love we never fell
So if it’s time to say goodbye then fare thee well

Fare thee well don’t make a sound
Fare thee well I’ll see you ‘round
It’s all good no hard feelings fare thee well

I guess we’ll go our separate ways now
I’d like to thank you for the time and wish you well
A friendly hug before we go and fare thee well

Fare thee well don’t make a sound
Fare thee well I’ll see you ‘round
It’s all good no hard feelings fare thee well

I’d like to think that we can still be friendly
Love comes in many different styles
    But let’s give it awhile

Fare thee well don’t make a sound
Fare thee well I’ll see you ‘round
It’s all good no hard feelings fare thee well

    Home4Good

I can hear the homestead’s call
It’s time to scale this ivory wall
It didn’t shield me like I thought I would
    When I’ve conquered every mile
And I see your welcome smile
    I’ll be home for good

    Home for good
To the place I belong / With the family I’ve known
And the friends that I’ve missed / All the people that love me

Tears of joy will stain my face
When I set foot inside that place
That’s built with memories and bricks and wood
    I may break but I won’t bend
‘Cause when this journey’s at its end
    I’ll be home for good

    Home for good
To the place I belong / With the family I’ve known
And the friends that I’ve missed / All the people that love me

And as I’m drawing near my heart is beating ever faster
You’ll come running out the door
And we will leap for joy like little lambs let out to pasture
And we will sing / We will sing
    We will sing forevermore

When life gets tough or even worse a bore
I concentrate on what’s in store
My guiding angel will not let me fall or lose my way
The good life isn’t what it seems
    No more chasing empty dreams
    I’m going home for good

  • 03:26 Story Lyrics
    Do It All Over Again

Well I’ve been on the hill and I’ve been in the hole
Been in a state where I had no control
I’ve loved and I’ve lied and I’ve let myself hate
I’ve heaped piles of trouble right onto my plate
Sometimes I’m afraid that I’ll do it all over again

I’ve been out of money I’ve been out of hope
Drunk whiskey and beer and done my share of dope
Cleaned myself up and swore never again
Then went back to the mud like a pig in his pen
There are times I’m afraid that I’ll do it all over again (2x)

You don’t need to go back
    Down that mine shaft
Though your clothes were coal black
    Now you’re clean

I’ve cheated and lied and refused to forgive
Stopped going to church and forgot how to live
Just couldn’t stand for the party to end
Woke up in my clothes didn’t know where I’d been
There are times when I think that I’d do it all over again (2x)

You don’t need to go back
    Down that mine shaft
Though your clothes were coal black
    Now you’re clean
Don’t you love the fresh air
    No more nightmare
    Heaven heard your serenity prayer
    Now you’re free

I’ve learned the hard lessons the light has come on
I’ve fought with the demons and feel like I’ve won
Regretting the foul self abuse that I’ve done
A deceitful perverted idea of fun
But sometimes I’m afraid that I’ll do it all over again (2x)
Dear God if you love me you won’t let me do it again

  • 03:47 Story Lyrics
Her Love Won't Leave Me Alone

I hear a voice from deep in the night
Could it be someone that I’ve known before
Take my hand and hold it tight
I’m haunted by the ring that she wore

    CHORUS
She slips inside my soul and squeezes me
She stands beside me when I’m alone
She calls my name at night and teases me
Oh, what can I do what can I say
Her love won’t leave me alone

So much in love but so much left unsaid
I should have known this from the start
    Happy memories lying there dead
    Bound together then torn apart

    CHORUS

She’s gone and left me behind
Since then things haven’t been the same
I may be losing my mind
Wait just a minute she’s calling my name

    CHORUS

  • 03:16 Story Lyrics
    Waiting For You

When my back is broken and I feel like I am choking
I might go back to smoking ‘cause I need a crutch for coping
My morals get caught napping while my enemies are clapping
My wings keep right on flapping but I can’t get off the ground and
    I am down

Waiting for you / Waiting for you
I’m lost and alone and my heart’s in pieces
Waiting for you / Waiting for you
To rest me in your tender arms…

No use in pretending that my standards are not bending
The stalling’s never-ending for the good I’ve been intending
The progress I’m erasing with the pleasures I’ve been chasing
Have only been encasing me in loneliness and shame and
    I am down

My door is drafty and my enemy is crafty
And he’s working his way inside
My shaky legs can’t stand their ground I’m slipping

  • 03:16 Story Lyrics
    I'm On Vacation

I packed my bags the night before just waiting for the morning of the trip
Then at the airport downed a couple cups of coffee burned my lip
These plastic chairs I’m forced to sit on while I wait have made me sore
I think I’ll walk around and check out all the freaks about to board

In just a minute I’ll be in the sky and on my way
Inside that tubular sensation roaring toward a sunny day

    CHORUS:
    I’m on vacation
Not gonna touch a telephone send a fax go to work or need a chaperone
    I’m on vacation
Gonna leave my problems all behind
Get a room hit the beach and watch the girls go by

Now that I’m on the beach the sun is makin’ bacon of my face
On my third daiquiri a takeaway a total mind erase
It seems so strange to not have any kind of worries on my brain
The bills can wait hold all my calls the forecast doesn’t call for rain

For just a couple days I’m going to keep reality in check
So starting now I’m gonna chill out from my Zorries to my neck

    CHORUS:
    I’m on vacation
Not gonna touch a telephone send a fax go to work or need a chaperone
    I’m on vacation
Gonna leave my problems all behind
Get a room hit the beach and have an empty mind

The bubble bursts I’m slogging through my day gig makin’ toothpicks outta logs
Thought I was soaring with the seagulls but I’m sweatin’ with the dogs
I hear those pounding feet approaching from behind to rag on me
I think I’d better cool him off and let him wear my daiquiri

Someday I’m gonna see there’s so much more to life than this
But ’til I find the truth I’m hanging in vacationary bliss

    CHORUS

    Music, That Is

HOME ONE EVENING / LATE AND DARK

I FLIPPED ON THE CONCERT IN CENTRAL PARK

ARTIE AND SIMON WERE DOING THEIR THING

I HUMMED ALONG / AND I BEGAN TO SING

THEN OUT OF NOWHERE / TEARS CAME TO MY EYES

    ONCE IN AWHILE / I RE-REALIZE

    DIVINE INSPIRATION / UNDENIABLY HIS

WHAT A WONDERFUL PRESENCE / MUSIC, THAT IS

A CONDUCTOR OF EMOTION / DARKNESS TO JOY

A WITHERED OLD MAN / TO AN EIGHT YEAR OLD BOY

SICK AND IN PRISON / TO HEALTHY AND FREE

IT’S MINE ALL ALONE / WHAT A SONG MEANS TO ME

DEEP DOWN IN THE HEART / WHERE HARMONY LIVES

WHAT TANGIBLE TONIC / MUSIC, THAT IS

HOPE I HAVEN’T ALREADY WRITTEN MY BEST

I’VE BEEN REJECTED I’VE BEEN PUT TO THE TEST

AND THROUGH IT ALL I MUST ADMIT I’VE BEEN BLESSED

    TO SIMPLY SING

FLESHING IT OUT / BREATHING IT IN

MELTS IN YOUR MOUTH / SOAKS THROUGH YOUR SKIN

SWEET COMPENSATION / TO HELP FILL THE HOLE

DESCENDS LIKE AN ANGEL / AND SPEAKS TO MY SOUL

PLANTS WITHOUT PREJUDICE / AN INVISIBLE KISS

MY DARLING COMPANION / MUSIC, THAT IS

  • 03:23 Story Lyrics
    Spirit's Grand Design

Long ago, my grandfather said / this land was lead by our resting dead
Air was pure and children were fed / white men came and blood was shed

Now we’ve got these big casinos / flashing lights across the sky
When we bargained how did we know their promises were hiding lies
Can we turn back the hands of time?

Strung bow buffalo thrill of the hunt / gifts of the earth / bow to the sun
Pine trees prairies rivers run / white man came and then there were none

Now we live on reservations / one-armed bandit way of life
Greedy tourists on vacation / is this the Spirit’s Grand Design?
We’ve got their cash but where’s our pride

Push broom break room wasting away / punching the clock earning my pay
Long to hear my grandfather say / hop on your horse we’re riding away

  • 02:16 Story Lyrics
    From Ordinary

    reaching far and wide
    passing up my former limits
    right by my side
    purifying every step i take
i never feel like i'm alone
in the darkness or the cold
my fate is sealed by the throne
my feet on streets of gold

ooh the changes you gave me
    a holiday from harm
ooh you needed to save me
    from ordinary

    looking back in time
makes me wonder how i made it
    an uphill climb
struggle makes the outcome so much more
i'm giving more now than i take
    a reinvented soul
each needed difference that i make
puts the pieces back to whole

i've tried to learn to live without
the demons i have beaten down
    whatever pain i'm feeling now
    is only temporary

  • 03:13 Story Lyrics
    Generous

    Jesus Jesus generous Jesus
    Lord Lord lavishing love
    Father Father forever forgiving
Blessing and bounty below and above

And I know that your hand is upon me
And I’ll never fall from your grace
And I’ll go where the Spirit will send me
And shout it all over the place

Give your daily bread / don’t want cake instead
For the life of me / gave yours willingly
Every day and night / teach me what is right
Give me work to do / with a smile for you
Keep me in your care / give me love to share
Show your shepherd’s heart / help me do my part
Draw my wandering feet / to your golden streets
I want paradise / earth’s not half as nice

  • 02:25 Story Lyrics
    (I Wanna Be) All Alone

It’s simple yeah it’s very simple
You and I can’t get along
So now I’m writing you a song

    Listen no you never listen
Do we have to sit on Springer’s show
Before you’ll pack your things and go
Denial you’re the queen of denial

    CHORUS
I wanna be alone (all by myself)
Yeah, I wanna be all alone

It’s over yeah this time it’s over
Take your blinders off your earplugs out
You never learned what I’m all about

I’m sorry oh I’m really sorry
Scratch my mind and wonder why
You make it hard to say goodbye
    Reality here comes reality

  • 04:22 Story Lyrics
    Tears in a Bottle

you’re keeping track of all my sorrow
you’re writing it down in your book of life
you’re collecting my tears in a bottle
and when we meet we’ll pour them out
    pour them into the river
watch them flow and fade away
    fill my soul with laughter
and we’ll feast upon the endless day

nobody really knows the crosses that I bear
put on my happy face pretend that they’re not there
but you will hold my heart
and keep the promises you’ve made
make sure the burden isn’t more than I can take

you are the reason I don’t want to have my way
you put my feet back on the pathway when I stray
hold me still and tell me that
my debts have all been paid
keep me from lying in the bed that I have made

  • 03:18 Story Lyrics
    No Responsibility

is there still a little innocence
in this world or should we build a fence
separating all the good from bad
it’s one dream that all of us have had
send me one ounce of energy
    shine through me like electricity
    be with me in synchronicity
    shock my jaded sensibilities

    i don’t know
    why there’s no responsibility

would you help a person in despair
or ignore her like she wasn’t there
smiling faces veil the truth inside
each one wonders what the other hides
let’s get back and give peace a chance
    stabilize the planet in advance
break down walls that stand between us now
wipe away the fear and make a vow

you know it’s not too late
    to save the human race
but putting off today what’s known
    will surely kill tomorrow

  • 04:45 Story Lyrics
    All This Trouble

every dawn is just another chance
    for one more lonely day
but you know that there’ll be treasure
    at this journey’s end
ever since you were a child
you’ve knelt down at your bed to pray
to find the strength to keep your chin up
    as you round another bend

as the years kept slipping by
you felt a silent warm embrace
reminding you of things to come
a whispered hope to soothe your soul
but sometimes faith and hope and love
    can disappear without a trace
and leave you longing for someone to touch your hand
    and make you whole

but when you gaze upon the face that you love
you will know that it was worth it
    all along
when you gaze upon the face that you love
you will know that it was worth it
all this trouble will be gone

the time for grief and pain is past
the mist is fading from the glass
    celebration day is drawing near

all your doubts and fears have washed away
    a cleansing spirit’s hand
you felt a chime ring through your bones
as if to signal new found life
reaching out through time to feel the sky
    the sunshine on the sand
no need for worry or regrets
the bridge is crossed you’ve seen the light

  • 03:26 Story Lyrics
    Evelyn

    evelyn
our evelyn has left us for awhile
in a warm and shiny place she wears a smile
    and that’s ok
we’ll hold each other’s hands again someday

    evelyn
your silver hair is captured in my mind
sparkling in the sunlight through the blinds
    i see you now
you loved and laughed and lived
    and taught us how

    you’re just a breath away
we wanted you to stay but you are
    happy where you are
    happy where you are
    oh evelyn

    evelyn
the autumn years would prove to be unkind
and though they took the memories from your mind
    they never died
I knew it when I looked into your eyes

  • 04:03 Story Lyrics
    Afraid To Let Go

hang my head down to cry
a lawless godless man am i
and as the tears crawl down my cheeks
that still small voice behind me speaks

when your heart relies on me
i’ll give you everything you need
    i wouldn’t think of ever
letting you get by without me
and if you draw your strength from me
i’ll help you realize your dreams
    don’t chase that rainbow
just to find the pot of gold is empty

    i’m afraid to let go
(pry your fingers from that ledge and fall on me)

i come to you lift the pain
    an overwhelming sweet refrain
look for me in all that’s true
and peace will guard your heart from you

when you set the world aside
then you’ll know that you’ve arrived
you’ll never let the sun go down again
    while you are angry
and though the battle rages on
    your helmet of salvation’s on
i’ve only seen part of this movie but i know the ending

  • 03:21 Story Lyrics
    Mr. G

    hey mr. g
    is your son alive
    some say he’s not
but I just think he might
but don’t call me a freak
    i ain’t done nothin’ yet
but the closer that he gets to me
    the more i must admit

    that i’ve got no control
    no say in the matter
like the heat of the sun
    he pulls me in
    he pulls me in

    hey mr. g
    i need some good advice
    some say he’s marvelous
    i think he’s mysterious
but please nobody’s mind is set
the closer that he gets to me
    the more i might regret

    Take You Down

    She’s gonna take you down
She wants to make you her lover tonight
    She’ll sing a blue-eyed song so softly

And you’re thinking everything is alright
Wondering why you put up a fight
But all she wants to do is

    Take you down
    Take you down
    “It’s really hurting no one”

    She knows her way around
Plant a thought push a button right here
And you become ready willing and able

And you’re thinking everything is alright
Wondering why you put up a fight
But all she wants to do is

Take you down (I’m feeling older)
Take you down (but I’m getting better
Take you down (at knowing who I am)

You’re living a life of no regret
Just doing the act without a net
Someday when the deal goes down
You’ll wish that you had seen

    Just what was happening
While the wild ones were stealing your soul
And yet you still believed that you still had it under control

    And everything’s not alright
Wondering how you got in this fight
When all she wants to do is

Take you down (I am forgiven)
Take you down (if I’m not mistaken)
Take you down (you will not let me go)

Take you down (I’m feeling older)
Take you down (but I’m getting better)
Take you down (you will not bury me)

    Other Plans

I want to live by the lake
I want to drift upon the sea
I want to sail into the sunset of my dreams
But there are other plans for me

I want my space left alone
I’d like to work out a deal
I want to crawl inside the way things used to be
But there are other plans for me
There are other plans for me

I want to keep to myself
I cannot set the people free
I want convenience and a life that’s hassle free
But there are other plans for me
God’s got some other plan for me

  • 02:37 Story Lyrics
    Listen To Your Fears

The silly things we tell ourselves
    Just gentle poison pushin’ through
Only time is gonna tell if they’re from heaven or from hell
And if they’re telling you the truth

Why do you listen to your fears
Those evil friends you know so well
They’re hanging ‘round and tying you down you can’t be found
    You’re hiding from yourself

In your head you’ll find a story left untold
Identified with a gallery of things to come
There’s been a changing of the guard
And a healing sound inside my soul
And all this time I thought the sun won’t shine on me
and having hope was just like singing harmony alone

Don’t say a word just close your eyes
Decide which way your mind will go
Is it some exotic dream or is it just a silent scream
And will you ever really know

Now don’t you listen to your fears
Those evil friends you know so well
They’re hanging ‘round and tying you down you can’t be found
    You’re hiding from yourself

  • 02:32 Story Lyrics
    Below The Surface

Is your vertical love in line
    Or is your mindset horizontal
Do you have to tilt your head to understand?
Set your charm on radiate and
Pile your goodies on my plate
But I don’t want to look below the surface
I can’t bear to look below the surface

    Sending signals out to space
It’s a shame no one receives them
While those shallow minded thoughts surround your head
Take a stab at what is real
And maybe then you’ll start to feel
A kind of pulmonary twitch inside you
An illusion standing right beside you

Get the truth and never sell it
Love the truth and always tell it
    It’s gaining on you now

    When you’re ready to arrive
I’ll be glad to come and get you
Just be sure that you’re not wasting all my time
If what’s missing is the point
Then you’re just stinking up the joint
And I don’t want to look below the surface
I’m not killing time below the surface
I can’t bear to look below the surface

    Oh! Jesus

    Jesus
Come down I’ve got to talk to you
    Oh! Jesus
Come down I’ve got to talk to you
Far be it from me to tell you anything
But man this world is cruel

    Why me?
I guess the question is why not me
    Why me?
I guess the question is why not me
I lusted and got sidetracked and I panicked
‘Cause I thought you’d done forgot me

    Jesus
Can you supply me for awhile
    Oh! Jesus
Can you supply me for awhile
Moses said “thou shall not steal” my credit’s shot
    And begging’s not my style

    211 Degrees

When I bash my knee on the side of my desk / Want to follow my spirit but I go with the flesh

I pile up credit ‘cause I don’t have the cash / Got a real nice car can’t afford the gas

And I get mad / About to boil over / Turn down that burner can’t take one more degree

Need some peace / Need some peace

God is so good and I act like a brat / Wanna do this but end up doing that

Want to bite my tongue but instead I attack / Got a brush full of blue but I paint it black

And I get mad / About to boil over Turn down that burner can’t take one more degree

Just need some peace / I need some peace

Sun is still shinin’ up above the clouds / You’ll get past what you’re feelin’ now

You’ll have it all when you give it all away

Want to be unique but instead I conform / Time to get up but the bed is so warm

Too much traffic and the drive is too long / Thank God for coffee make it good and strong

So self-conscious do I really belong / Fast food cheap but the order is wrong

Trying to stay fit but I blew it again / The Lord’s coming back but I wanna know when

    Words Unspoken

Back and forth and back like the paperboy
Bringing all the news that’s fit to print
Trying to figure out not always getting it
Your problems aren’t always heaven sent

Early on and all through our lifetimes
Many many things just don’t get said
Trippin’ through wires walkin’ on sunshine
Bennie’s still here but the Jets are dead

    Oh, feelin’ tomorrow
    Feelin’ like tomorrow’s already gone
Wind-whipped wave wake up and whisper
Sufficient to the day is the evil thereof

Early on and all through our lifetimes
Many many things just don’t get said
Trippin’ through wires walkin’ on sunshine
Bennie’s still here but the Jets are dead

Time is passing / Say what you need to say
Words unspoken / Forgotten fade away

Don’t let go don’t forget the mission
Don’t forget the reason He came down here
    Don’t pipe down somebody’s listening
The facts are all in but you need not fear

    Prodigal

Please write me / I’m an open book but my pages are blank / Please write me
Please use me / Got a guarded heart but I wanna do my part / Please use me

Careened and finally crashed / So I threw away my stash
Did my time in no man’s land and I’m ready to come back

Please push me / Wanna step out of my zone but I tend to be alone / Please push me
Please wind me / A broken clock’s right twice a day and that’s ok but / Please wind me

Careened and finally crashed / So I threw away my stash
Did my time in no man’s land and I’m ready to come back

Prodigal Prodigal / Gambled with my very soul
Prodigal Prodigal / Take me back and make me whole
Oh Father I am heading home again

Please please me / Wanna love your way on your path I wanna stay / Please please me
Please keep me / In your ever lovin’ arms for forever and beyond / Please keep me

    Blue Haze

There’s a blue haze draped over everything
There’s a shadow moving with the tide
There’s a blind man wondering how it got to this
And the bells in the tower are sending the news far and wide

Now the blue haze is creeping through the city walls
Feel the fear grip your heart as the demons start knocking on the door
Won’t do anyone here any good to run into the hills to hide
And it’s time for the saints to accept what they know is in store

There’s a blue haze hanging on my heavy heart
As I stop to consider the fate of my brothers unsaved
I will leave them and begin my time in paradise
But did I do all I could to prevent their descent to the grave

Christmas Peace

(I Wanna Be A) Kid Again at Christmas

Writing with your finger on the frosted window pane
The spicy scent of pine trees and the taste of candy canes
The mounting pile of presents underneath the Christmas tree
Oh Santa if you’re listening won’t you grant this wish for me

In this season so divine more than any other time
I want to be a kid again at Christmas
Peace on earth goodwill to men but make me 8 years old again
I want to be a kid again this Christmas

At Grandma’s with my cousins folks are in from out of town
Cookies fudge and eggnog peanut brittle by the pound
No school ‘til after New Years and the snow is piling up
And Mom is in the kitchen brewing cocoa for our cups

In this season so divine more than any other time
I want to be a kid again this Christmas
Peace on earth goodwill to men but make me 8 years old again
I want to be a kid again this Christmas

Driving up and down the streets to see the Christmas lights
Standing side by side in church and singing Silent Night
The story of the shepherds and the star and Wise Men three
Oh baby in the manger fill this heart with childlike glee

In this season so divine more than any other time
I want to be a kid again this Christmas
Peace on earth goodwill to men but make me 8 years old again
I want to be a kid again this Christmas

    Early on One Christmas Morn

Early on one Christmas morn /Jesus Christ the son was born
Singing carols, Christmas songs / Early on one Christmas morn
Early on one Christmas morn / Jesus Christ the son was born
Singing carols, Christmas songs / Jesus Christ the son was born

Three wise men saw the star at night / Star that lit up the heavens so bright
Star that led to where Christ was born / Early on one Christmas morn

Early on one Christmas morn /Jesus Christ the son was born
Singing carols, Christmas songs / Early on one Christmas morn
Early on one Christmas morn / Jesus Christ the son was born
Singing carols, Christmas songs / Jesus Christ the son was born

In that city of Bethlehem / Wise men brought Him jewels and gems
Born in a manger humble and low / That is why we love Him so

Early on one Christmas morn /Jesus Christ the son was born
Singing carols, Christmas songs / Jesus Christ the son was born

Mary was his mother calm / Cradled him gently in her arms
All hail and praise to Him / Peace on earth goodwill to men

Early on one Christmas morn Jesus Christ the son was born
Singing carols, Christmas songs / Early on one Christmas morn
Early on one Christmas morn / Jesus Christ the son was born
Singing carols, Christmas songs / Jesus Christ the son was born

    Jump Up Tonight

Jump up baby / get ready to roll
We’re stepping out tonight / just itching to go
Grab your hat and your dancing’ shoes
I’m making you an offer that you can’t refuse
Jump up tonight / Dance ‘til the morning light

Stompin’ my feet I’m clapping my hands
Swingin’ to the sound of a rocking band
Bless my soul the piano man
Poundin’ out a rhythm I can understand
Jump up tonight / Dance ’til the morning light

Hold on tight now don’t let go
I wanna see you jump shake rattle and roll
Keep on moving ‘til the break of day
The band ain’t stopping they just wanna play
    C’mon boys whatd’ya say!

Hit that floor stop wasting time
Nothin’ like swinging for feeling fine
Sitting at home don’t spark no romance
I really love you baby when I’m watching you dance
Jump up tonight / Dance ‘til the morning light

Jump up baby / get ready to roll
We’re stepping out tonight / just itching to go
Grab your hat and your dancing’ shoes
I’m making you an offer that you can’t refuse
Jump up tonight / Dance ‘til the morning light

  • 04:22 Story Lyrics
    Fly Away

    Sleepy eyed, down the stairs
    Lazy smile, tangled hair
Daylight breaks on a crayon world
One more picture / Daddy’s girl awakes

Swing set turns in our back yard
Back and forth, I play my part
First friend calls on the telephone
Out the gate and on her own

And I watch from the window as she walks away
A little bit further every day
She wants to fly, fly away
When she leaves she’ll always stay in my heart

Made up dance on the kitchen floor
She pulls me in just like before
Stop and laugh, my little girl
Does she know Daddy’s world she makes

Crazy smile and her mama’s eyes
Watch her grow, see her rise
On that bike I taught her to ride
Down the block and out of sight

And I watch from the window as she rides away
A little bit further every day
She wants to fly, fly away
When she leaves, she’ll always stay in my heart

And she wants to fly, fly away
And she wants to fly, fly away
She will always stay, always stay
When it’s time to fly, fly away

Someday soon will be her time
Eighteen years the blink of an eye
She’ll move on to her new life
In a car, off she’ll drive

And I’ll watch from the window as she drives away
A little bit further every day
She wants to fly, fly away
When she leaves, she’ll always stay in my heart

She’s written her name in my heart
Way down deep, the deepest part
She’ll always stay, always stay in my heart

  • 04:00 Story Lyrics
    Nothin' Like You

I’ve seen the red sun dance on the river at night
‘Til it fades to black, fades from sight
But I’ve never seen nothin’ like you

I’ve seen the full moon shining in the midnight sky
The North Star hanging up nice and high
But I’ve never seen nothin’ like you

You’re like wind on the water / Hammer to stone
Under my skin / Straight to the bone
In my mind all the time
Can’t stop thinking / I can’t stop thinking ‘bout you

I’ve seen the heat waves rise from the desert floor
Stone walls standing from a world before
But I’ve never seen nothin’ like you

I’ve seen the rivers run wear away the land
Beating that bank turning rock to sand
But I’ve never seen nothin’ like you

You’re like the wind on the water / Hammer to stone
Under my skin / Straight to the bone
In my mind all the time
Can’t stop thinking / Can’t stop thinking ‘bout you

The rivers rise with the first spring rain
Running their banks and trying to change
The summer sun paints the prairie lands
In blues and greens and tans
Leaves that change on October trees
Carried off in the autumn breeze
When I see you walk into the room
I’ve never, never seen nothin’ like you

I’ve seen laughter hiding in a child’s eyes
Til it tumbles forth and starts to rise
But I’ve never seen nothin’ like you

I’ve seen my parents dance to an old blues tune
Watched them move all about the room
But I’ve never seen nothin’ like you

You’re like the wind on the water / Hammer to stone
Under my skin / Straight to the bone
In my mind all the time
Can’t stop thinking / No I can’t stop thinking ‘bout you

    There’s nothin’ like you

    Since You Said Goodbye

The river’s freezing the sun refuse to shine
The river’s freezing the sun refuse to shine
You know I been so cold since you said goodbye

The snow keeps falling, falling down from the sky
The snow keeps falling, falling down from the sky
I ain’t going nowhere gonna sit right down and cry

Said you’d call but that phone it just won’t ring
Said you’d call but that phone it just won’t ring
I ain’t got nothing but these low-down blues to sing

The mercury’s falling the cold front’s moving in
The mercury’s falling the cold front’s moving in
When you walked out you know you broke my heart again

  • 03:10 Story Lyrics
    Everybody's Eatin' Barbeque

All the old dogs roll back into town
Pull up at my doorstep ready to party down
Well talk and we’ll laugh and we’ll throw back a few
But when it’s time to eat we know just what we’ll do
‘Cause when you come to my place
    Everybody’s eatin’ barbeque

You know I like ‘em spicy mmm I like ‘em sweet
Dripping with sauce no matter the cost
    Man they can’t be beat
So put down that fork and I don’t need no spoon
Grab on tight with both hands and then we’ll follow through
When you come to my place
    Everybody’s eatin’ barbeque

I don’t want no puny salad or even a juicy steak
When I get the jones for bones I need just one thing on my plate
And all the old dogs they feel just like I do
Taste so doggone good it’s gonna chase away my blues
‘Cause when you come to my place
    Everybody’s eatin’ barbeque

(“Pass the sauce… mmm… mighty fine”)

When you come to my place
    Everybody’s eatin’ barbeque
